Other Names | Rockingham Recreational Trail, New Hampshire |
Last Known Status | Open |
This multiple-use trail has a couple access points and is rated as mostly easy. The trail is linear and passes through a deep woods forest, marshlands and small lakes. There is no single track or challenging terrain, but there are a couple tunnels to go through that makes it a little interesting. This is one of the few motorized trails in the state that is open year-round even during mud season.
The trail is mostly hard packed dirt with occasional loose chunk rock and gravel, and machines must be 50 inches or less in width to pass through the gates. Overall this is a good choice for beginners or a family friendly ride, but just note that the trail is shared with hikers and mountain bikers, so use caution. There is no fee charged to park or ride but all OHVs must have a current New Hampshire OHRV Sticker.
The staging area in Derry features a small dirt lot for compact trucks, but parking is cramped and there is little room to turnaround. The staging area in Fremont has paved parking and a little more elbow room for trailers. Both trailheads have an information kiosk, picnic tables and garbage cans.
