This set of forest roads is for day use only and is only bicycles, hikers and horseback riding is permitted. Entrance and parking is free, and there are plenty of parking areas with shade, as well as a paved trailhead. The roads are mostly tame, with a couple of small water crossings.

Nearby places that are still open to offroad use include Hunter Lake, Bull Ranch Creek, Washoe Valley Jumbo Grade and Keystone Canyon.

1) Take 395 to Hwy 431 west (Mt. Rose Hwy)
2) Continue west about 5 miles on Mt. Rose Hwy
3) Turn right on N. Timberline Drive, continue about 1 mile (just keep going straight past all of the houses)
4) Veer right at kiosk sign after you cross the bridge, continue .1 miles.
5) Paved staging area is on the left.
