Other Names | Peace River |
Last Known Status | Open |
This campground offers a wide range of sites that can accommodate large RVs but also has a couple short trail loops that wind near the scenic Peace River. The main trail loop is flat, wide, and sandy and goes near the ruins of a Chautauqua Amphitheater from 1927 and a strange marker from 1897.
Tent camping is permitted pretty much anywhere alongside the river and there are plenty of remote sites to choose from, many with a “private beach” feel. The campground and trails are lined with oak and cypress trees covered with Spanish moss. Overall this is a good place if you are searching for a fun campground/resort and you just want to cruise around. If you are coming just for the riding, there is not much to keep you busy. The loop is short and speed regulated.
Among the standard campground amenities, the property also offers a laundromat, restroom and shower facilities, a heated swimming pool plus a convenience store. Airboat tours, fossil hunting, fishing, canoe and golf cart rentals are also available.

This unique campground has a little of everything. Nice beaches that overlook the river, fossil hunting, airboat rides, and of course, some really cool ATV trails.
The campground is bordered by the scenic Peace River. Tent camping is allowed anywhere alongside the river.
This campground has over 400 sites. Reservations are recommended, especially around mid December through the end of March.
One of the side entrances to the Chautauqua Amphitheater ruins. Very interesting.
This Chautauqua Amphitheater was built in 1927 and was open for one season in 1929. Unfortunately due to the Great Depression and a fire in the mid 1930s, the building has been reduced to ruins.
The airboat tours are just a short walk from the campground. This is also a good spot for wading and fossil hunting.
The campground has six group shelters, each one with room to accommodate 50 people, electric, water and two twelve seat picnic tables. Call for reservations.
Primitive camping is permitted alongside the river. Many of the sites have a tropical beach feel.
Another nice view of the trails. Lots of oak and various palm trees make up most of the vegetation here.
There are many spots alongside the river that have a deserted beach feel.
This historic marker from 1897 is located near the Chautauqua Amphitheater.
A small zoo is available that has tortoises, pygmy goats and a miniature pony.
There is no shortage of secluded primitive sites with soft white sand.
