This open play area offers 48 acres of wide and sandy trails for dirt bikes and ATVs. The perimeter is fenced off and will take the average rider about two minutes to cover, but this is still a good spot to bring beginners due to the easy terrain and looped trails.
The staging area is surrounded by mature juniper trees and has some nice shady spots with picnic tables and BBQ grills, so bring the family, friends and charcoal and make it a day of outdoor grilling and riding. Other amenities include a vault toilet, loading ramp and trash receptacles. There is no water so bring your own.
There is no fee charged to ride or park but both trails and staging area are only open during daylight hours. Camping can be found a short distance away in nearby Mt. Shasta.

This is a random network of very sandy trails that wind between the trees. All trails are two-way with many intersections so you need to keep an eye out, but the area gets relatively few visitors.
The staging and picnic area is clearly marked and surrounded by fencing and all amenities are remarkably clean and well cared for.
The area is for day-use only so there is no camping. But it is a perfect place to bring the whole family for a picnic and do some play riding.
This is the main entrance sign for Juniper Flats OHV Area. The riding area is close to the highway, which makes it easy to get in and out.
The staging area is nicely maintained with strategically placed boulders, clean vault toilets, picnic tables and BBQ grills placed near pine and juniper trees.
The trails are open to dirt bikes, ATVs and UTVs that are 50 inches or less in width.
The picnic tables and BBQ grills are in fairly decent condition. This is a good place for a picnic and a quick day ride.
One of the short side trails that goes through a short section of boulders.
Amenities include vault toilets, garbage receptacles and a concrete loading ramp.
The trails are mostly sandy with scattered berms and light elevation changes. At roughly 50 acres it won't take long for the average rider to explore but beginners will have a blast.
This area offers the typical high desert vegetation with some nice mountain views.
This is the perfect place to bring a new rider or to break in a new top end.
The trails are mostly sandy with some hard packed sections. Only machines that are 50 inches or less in width are permitted.
