Other Names | Pinal Air Park, Marana Air Park |
Last Known Status | Open |
This large desert area offers a variety of easy trails with big whoops and various scattered makeshift motocross tracks. The western area has a couple of large play pits with numerous jumps, small chutes and climbs, and hill turns. Primitive campsites can be found throughout the area and staging can be done most anywhere.
Nearby Pinal Airpark was at one time the CIA headquarters for air cargo operations but is now more of a storage place for large airplanes. The air space is still plenty active, however, and military training operations are common, so stay within the boundaries and obey all postings.

Although you can't see them from the road, this area does have some larger play pits on the west side.
The washes and pits have trails running through them so beware the countless intersections.
The play pits on the eastern side are very tame like this one. Beginners and kids will have a lot of fun here.
When you first arrive, you'll see something like this. It looks very flat, but keep going north and west to find the pits.
The motocross tracks are a bit dry and slick but there are some healthy sized jumps and berms.
This trail follows the perimeter and the fence makes the area boundaries pretty obvious.
There are also some large flat open areas great for RV camping or powerslides.
After a rain, the western acces road has many mud holes like this, but you'll always find ways around them to the east.
The air field to the west is active and military excercises are going on so heed the warnings and stay within the boundaries.
