Where To Ride Near Long Island

Jennifer Rails (June 2019)It's not easy to find a spot to ride your ATV in Long Island although there are a few hidden gems here. But if you want really great riding, there are some excellent options just a few hours away.
- Western Massachusetts (200 miles, 3-4 hours) - Western Massachusetts has some rugged trails to check out. Pittsfield, October Mountain and Beartown feature camping and some very scenic woods trails (don't forget to pick up the Massachusetts OHV Sticker!). Looking for a private campground with it's own trail system? Then check out Bonny Rigg Campground.
- Pennsylvania (250 miles, 4-5 hours) - If your ATV is registered and insured then check out Pennsylvania. Burnt Mills, Maple Run and Pohopocco Tract are located on public land and all three are close to camping.
- Upstate New York (325 miles, 5 hours) - Upstate New York features the Lewis County Trail System, a 600+ mile network of ATV and UTV routes. Numerous campgrounds and restaurants offer direct access to the trails, so plan on staying at least a few days. Tin TeePee Family Campground, Mettowee Off Road Extreme Park and Hilltown Riders are some other spots to look into.
- New Hampshire (400 miles, 6-7 hours) - New Hampshire is home to the most impressive trail system in the northeast - Ride the Wilds. This area has over 1,000 miles of trails with numerous camping options that range from full hookup, ATV and UTV rentals and restaurants, many with direct trail access. Plan on staying at least a week.
